Three at Skipton to represent Guernsey in Island Games
Three dedicated sports enthusiasts from Skipton will be representing Guernsey in next month’s Island Games.
Abi Galpin (athletics), Tom Pattimore (golf) and Aaron Walden (basketball) will all wear the iconic green strip to represent the island in their respective sports and say they are thrilled to be doing so.
Aaron Walden, who is Senior Commercial Manager at the bank, which currently employs 80 staff, said: “We are all truly excited for Guernsey to host the Island Games once again on our shores. The organisation and planning by the Games’ committee has been exceptional, and it’s hard to believe it will all come to fruition in a matter of weeks.
I am looking forward to playing at a highly competitive level, and welcoming teams from across the world.”
All three employees are being given paid leave to participate in the Games.
Skipton’s Managing Director, Jim Coupe, said:
“At Skipton we believe in supporting our colleagues with their sporting and creative interests. Guernsey hosting the Games is a huge honour and we are very proud to have three Skipton colleagues participating. We wish them well and look forward to sharing their success with them.”
The Games take place from 8-14 July.
