Sky Sports Presenter delivers Inspiring Talks

Last week, 180 Sixth Form students across the Channel Islands were invited by Skipton International to attend an inspiring and informative talk with Sky Sports journalist and former ITV Channel presenter Mark McQuillan.

Mark provided valuable insight into how the strategies, discipline and mindset required for athletic prowess can be adapted to environments in business and education. Students heard how some of sport’s biggest names, including Serena Williams and Michael Phelps, rely on skills such as persistence and preparation to power their success, and learned how to apply these attributes to their own lives as they prepare to move into the workplace or further education.

Prior to Mark’s talk, Ceri Powell from Skipton International spoke to the students about future career opportunities at the bank, highlighting the benefits of joining a fast-growing company offering a competitive salary, generous annual bonus, free healthcare and a vibrant sports & social club.

Ceri Powell, People Business Partner, discussed the impact of Mark’s talk:

“Mark is an incredibly inspiring individual, and I know that the students gained a wealth of knowledge through their discussions with him over the course of these events. I think it was particularly motivating for the students to hear from someone who has themselves lived and worked in the Channel Islands for a number of years, which Mark did during his time at ITV Channel. I want to express a big thank you to Mark, and to everyone who helped to make these events happen.”

This event was organised under Skipton International’s #skiptonissport banner, an initiative that seeks to highlight links between the power of sport and wellness, both physically and mentally, at home or in the workplace.
