Time slots are now available for teams to make a splash at Beau Sejour between 29 September and 3 October, for what promises to be an entertaining event that accommodates everyone of all abilities. Proceeds from this year’s Swimarathon will go jointly towards the Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation, for their work helping local families visiting their sick children at Southampton Hospital www.ppbf.org.gg, and upgrading the I.T. equipment at Citizens Advice Guernsey www.citizensadvice.org.gg

Adrian Sarchet, Guernsey’s ‘Sea Donkey’ and Skipton Swimarathon Ambassador said: “Supporting these two fantastic charities this year means that for every group of swimmers that register and for every pound that they raise, they could be helping the people of the Bailiwick. I would encourage as many groups as possible to enter a team, from those who may not be particularly strong swimmers to those who count themselves as competitive swimmers. The theme is always about having fun, whilst raising valuable funds for these worthwhile causes.”

Business teams can help raise funds and special awards are given to those businesses who raise in excess of £500, £1,000, £1,500 and £2,500 – given not just for their participation, but for their commitment to supporting local charities and giving back to the island.

Nick Guillemette, Chairman of the Skipton Swimarathon Committee, said: “We are continually astounded by the generosity and enthusiasm shown by participants and supporters. With 2020 being our biggest event ever, raising a whopping £71,000, we are keen to welcome those who are returning to the pool and all new faces. My thanks also goes to Skipton International for its continued support over the years and for making the Swimarathon a highlight of Guernsey’s social calendar.”

Teams of up to eight are invited to book their lanes (one-hour sessions) on the website: www.swimarathon.org  Lanes can get booked up very quickly, so it is advisable to reserve your lane quickly. Fancy dress and fun attire is encouraged; the aim is for swimmers to enjoy themselves whilst raising funds.
