Skipton renews Liberation Day Sponsorship
Skipton International has announced that it is to renew its sponsorship of the hugely popular Crafty Arty tent for this year's 65th anniversary of the Liberation Day celebrations. This year's event will have an Alice in Wonderland theme, following the recent release of Tim Burton's fantasy adventure film based on Lewis Carroll's novels.
Children coming to the Skipton Wonderland tent will venture into the magnificent Wonderland of the Mad Hatter and Queen of Hearts, complete with scene setters, flamingos, backwards clocks, and quirky tea pots.
Inside Skipton Wonderland, children aged up to 14 can enjoy the crafty corner that will be full of magical treasures for kids to lick, stick, glitter and glue. No Queen is without her chest of goodies - and children will make their own to take away with them to store their special possessions in.
They will also be given the opportunity to make their own Tweedle Dee and Dum fun frames, personalised with their own cartoons. For those brave enough to face the Queen of Hearts, this really will be an event the children will not want to be late for.
Commenting on the renewed support in this the 65th year of Liberation celebrations, Skipton International managing director Alan Bougourd said, "We are looking forward to welcoming families and children to the Skipton Wonderland tent, Liberation Day celebrations are an important part of the island's calendar and it is an honour for Skipton International to be supporting this special day. This really is a fantastic day out and with the Alice in Wonderland theme, we are sure that children and adults alike will enjoy the day."
Skipton International prides itself on supporting community events for everyone to enjoy and is a regular contributor to other local events encompassing sport, the arts and local good causes. In addition to its long standing Floral Guernsey sponsorship recently, support has included the Lady Taverners, the Guernsey Football Association and the Guernsey Mini Soccer Festival plus the Skipton Walk at Sausmarez Park.
April 2010 marked another big step forward for the bank with the announcement that it is to take over as lead sponsor of the famous Guernsey Swimarathon, organised by Lions Club of Guernsey and Guernsey Round Table which in future will be known as the Skipton Swimarathon. The event takes place over the second weekend in October and the target this year is to raise £50,000 for good causes in Guernsey.
About Skipton International in the Community
Skipton International Limited was created at the end of September last year, following the amalgamation of Skipton Guernsey and Scarborough Channel Islands. However the bank's track record as a major donor towards Island activities goes back much further, as Skipton Guernsey began to develop its strong reputation for community activity when the bank became the lead sponsor at the launch of Floral Guernsey in 1996. Since then, donations totalling many thousands of pounds have been made annually to support and develop the festival across the Bailiwick of Guernsey. The Floral Festival weeks are now highly regarded events in the local gardening calendar and attract many visitors to the islands. In 2009 the bank expanded it support of Floral Guernsey to include sponsorship of the Community Competition which selects a Parish each year to represent Guernsey in the annual Britain in Bloom competition.
Skipton International is also a regular contributor to other local events encompassing sport, the arts and local good causes. Recent support has included Liberation Day celebrations, the Lady Taverners, the Guernsey Football Association and the Guernsey Mini Soccer Festival plus the Skipton Walk at Sausmarez Park.
