Skipton is a local success story, and has the reputation of being a good company to work for in the Bailiwick. The bank is based in the Bordage, in the centre of Town, and offers a selection of mortgage products and savings accounts.

Annette Wales is Skipton’s HR Manager, and says: “As the company’s Head Office, we deal with a large variety of operations in order to run the bank efficiently and effectively. There’s I.T., marketing, customer services, and banking teams, to name just a few - we certainly offer a variety of roles!

I don’t think they realise that there’s so any different aspects to our business, when you think about marketing, business development, finance and people development, and that’s one of the things we’re trying to showcase in our open evening.”

Chris Rowe is 21 and started at Skipton as a Trainee Mortgage Associate, learning all he could about the mortgage sector. However, Chris realised he had other aspirations and is soon to join Skipton’s Commercial team, which looks after the company’s website, advertising, information materials and new products.

The firm is always pleased to hear from those in other industry sectors – Chris arrived from a retail position – and supports development across different departments internally. Some employees may start in a customer services position, but gravitate towards a role in mortgages, for example. There are never any ties and talented individuals will always thrive.

Chris said: “Skipton was an excellent choice for me when I started to look for work. Everyone at Skipton is so friendly and the company has been really supportive of my ambitions. I am shortly about to undertake some professional training courses – all paid for by Skipton – and am looking forward to seeing where my Skipton career takes me.
