Awards presented following successful Skipton Swimarathon
Over 30 team and industry sector trophies were handed out in an evening ceremony at Beau Sejour to celebrate the success of the 2024 Skipton Swimarathon in Guernsey.
The Skipton Swimarathon exceeded expectations, with participants swimming further and raising more money than last year. In total, 1,853 participants raised over £65,000 whilst swimming 23 kilometres further than in 2023.
The main charitable beneficiary of the funds raised this year is the G.S.P.C.A. (Guernsey Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) who have committed to spending the money on new pools for sea life, including rescued seals. The remainder of the funds will be split between other local charitable causes chosen by the Lions Club of Guernsey and the Guernsey Round Table.
Chief Commercial officer, Charlotte Dunsterville, said:
“I wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who participated and volunteered at this year’s Skipton Swimarathon. Without you, none of this would have been remotely possible and it is your passion and drive to make a difference to your community that propels this event forward each year.
This was our 15th time partnering this event, and everyone at Skipton International is extremely proud of the value that we add, not just in by offering our full financial support, but also through offering our PR, marketing, and event experience. As a bank at the heart of the Guernsey community, the Swimarathon fits perfectly with our values and ethos, and we can’t wait to get started with planning next year’s event!”
